We love this beautiful, oversized porch bench with X detailing.It accents our front porch at our cabin, and adds a comfortable and sturdy seating space.This bench is very large in size with a deep seat.

We have been using this bench for over four years and it is still as strong and sturdy as ever.

But if your bench is exposed to the elements, consider exterior appropriate wood.

I am so excited to finally be sharing this DIY bench with you guys today!Ana and I worked together on my Fancy X Farmhouse Table a few months back and it has been a hit!That is a picture of the bases connected to the seat planks using Kreg Jig® using pocket hole screws.

How great would this DIY bench be in an entry way or dining room?

There will be LOTS of dinners and fun at this DIY bench.

DIY High Back Bench

Mary mentioned that she loved barn doors, so we came up with a high back bench that resembled a barn door but offers seating at their dining table, too!We attached the frame to the back of the bench with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws.Attach the backing at least 1/4″ from the back of the bench top to leave space for the 1/4″ plywood backing.

Drill 3/4″ pocket holes in the wide ends of the corbels and attach them to the bench top with 1 1/2″ pocket hole screws and wood glue.You will need to fill the pocket holes with wood filler or Kreg Pocket Hole plugs.

How To Build A Farmhouse Bench with Storage

I’m partnering with Build Something today to show you how to build this farmhouse bench with storage.Drill pocket holes Drill 2 1/2″ pocket holes into the 2×4 boards to prep for assembly.Assemble the sides of the bench Using wood blue and 2 1/2″ pocket screws, build the bench sides.

Build the bench seat Drill 3/4″ pocket holes into the boards for the bench seat.Farmhouse Bench With StorageThe added storage in this bench makes it perfect for storing scarves, books, games, or whatever you like.

We attached all of the boards with 2.5″ pocket hole screws through those pocket holes and into the adjoining boards.

We attached each runner to a leg piece using wood glue and 2.5″ pocket hole screws.This is a super simple, $25 bench that would be so cute in any room!

Easy DIY 2x4 Bench with Free Plans

This simple DIY 2x4 bench is easy to build yourself with free woodworking plans!This 2x4 bench is such a quick and easy build, you could start this project in the morning and be done in time for dinner.

My 2x4 bench was feeling a little too much like, well...a bunch of 2x4's when it was all put together.Fill Pocket Holes (optional)Some of the pocket holes remain visible after the bench is built.

It protected my 2x4 bench from all the falling leaves and bugs that attempt to bombard my projects in the backyard.

How to Build a DIY Farmhouse Bench

Step 3 – Cut Feet and Leg Boards for the Farmhouse BenchTake 4×4 board and cut six pieces to 14″ in length.Step 4 – Drill Pocket Holes in the Leg BoardsThe leg boards need to have pocket holes on the bottom and top for attachment.

Step 5 – Cut Diagonal Pieces for the Leg AssemblyThe diagonal pieces will be cut from a 2×4 board.

Measure the center of the bench and attach the leg assemblies with wood glue and 1 1/4″ pocket holes screws.Step 10 – Insert and Nail the Upper Diagonal BoardsNow attach the upper diagonal boards to the legs.

Rustic Custom Farmhouse Desk

Most importantly, we succeeded in delivering what the client wanted, which was a rustic, reclaimed barnwood, farmhouse style desk.On to the project…—Video for this build is at bottom of page—Making the TopI made the top of this desk from reclaimed barn beams.

That worked out really great for the underside of the desk top, having the white painted siding wrap all the way around.With the legs attached, I worked to put the remaining pieces of siding onto the desk frame.

I then used table top fasteners to connect the top with the frame of the desk.

DIY Wood Bench with Back Plans

My neighbor saw a cute wood bench at a local restaurant and wanted one for her house.This wood bench is nice, because it has a back support and arm rest, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.Step 3 – Wood Bench Seat AssemblyOn the 48″ long skirt boards, measure and mark over 15″ from each end.Tips for dealing with crooked boards*Often dimensional lumber will be somewhat crooked and can make your wood bench rock.

Step 6 – Attach the Wood Bench BackGrab the back support boards and attach them to the lower back filler pieces/rear seat with wood glue and 2 1/2″ screws.

DIY $40 Bench for the Dining Table

Basically, the Kreg HD Jig is a larger version of the Kreg Jig.These are all Kreg HD pocket holes and I used HD screws to attach.I used 1 1/2″ pocket holes and 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws to attach the long bench tops and the bread boards.I added these pocket holes before attaching the runners so that it would be easy to attach my bench top.

To attach the bench top, I just used 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws through these holes and into the bench seat.
