Measure the height of the lamp shade and add two inches to give you the height of your material.

Place your fabric onto the lamp shade, gather the fabric as you like and pull the ribbon tightly around your lampshade.

All Things Beautiful: Shabby {Fabric Strip} Lampshade Makeover DIY

This cute little crystal lamp was a wedding present 20+ years ago.My daughter actually did most of this work, with a tiny help from Mom....and yes, I'm proud!

Since I made her bedding, we have a few scraps laying around,so she cut strips 3/4-1" wide and began tying!You might even be able to see some of the strays,but we like shabby!

A little velvet, houndstooth, small print, large floral....pretty!

It’s all about the twig lamp shade.You’ll need: A lampshade, lots of sticks, some scissors, a hot glue gun & some sticks.

Place the shade on its side, and work your way around the shade.

Just a tiny dab of hot glue on the top and bottom rim of the shade is all you need to hold the sticks on.Glue them all around the shade, then you can use a blow dryer to tidy up any hot glue strings – just blow it really well with hot air.

So I saw this darling lamp shade from Anthropologie for $98.So, I headed to Walmart and grabbed the cheapest shade I could find for the shape I wanted, $10.Then, at Joanne’s fabric I got two kinds of gray fabric because the flower material was shear and I didn’t want the original color of the shade showing through.(By the way, if you want to make a white shade, look in the bridal fabrics, tons of options.We then did the exact same thing with the shear fabric over the top.
