I have been really into the white brick look, so I opted for a “faux brick fireplace” using tile and wide white trim.Fireplace TileLike I said, my design was based on a white brick look so I researched options for the fireplace.So after searching high and low I was able to find a “faux” brick fireplace tile at Home Depot online.

Now that I got that off my chest, I want to share this DIY that I think just might be my proudest to date – our faux brick fireplace.Then at work last Monday I randomly had a thought… “Maybe I can faux brick the fireplace (as if I needed something else to work on…)?” Two seconds later… “This would be a perfect, inexpensive method to update the black slate”.I was worried that something would go wrong since I was doing this around a fireplace.“Brick” colors: I used this paint in the colors dark taupe, khaki, and brown that I found at Michael’s.

If you want to have a redder brick, pick colors with more red tones in them, if you want a completely white “bricks” then you don’t need these colors.

There are several different types of brick, but the brick I am talking about is thin brick which is 1/2″ thick brick pieces.Old Mill Brick is an online brick distributer that sells not only individual bricks, but bricks on a fiberglass sheet called BrickWebb.Place a spacer above the row and start your second row alternating the seams so if you started with 1/2 a brick start with a full brick for this row.
