Make a Lantern from 3 Lamp Shade Frames

To make this lamp I used three lamps shade frames.To cover the lantern I cut up a cream colored old shirt and used some black scrap pieces of chiffon.

I added elastic in the tubing and covered the lantern frame.The trickiest part of this project was to convert the frames into ceiling light frames.Because the small frame is turned upside down, and it is a table lamp frame, the light holder loops can be used to attach the lantern to the ceiling.

DIY chicken wire lampshade

Frustrating…but I decided to see if you could work the technique with a SUPER shiny silver paint.Then, an aha-moment: chicken wire!I just used the chicken wire to bend back over itself to seal the seam.It isn’t looking perfect, but once you bend it out, the wire and your U shape are very snug.

Attaching the hanger-wire to the chicken wire was easy, just cut it to size once you have placed all four wires through the same-height holes and then bend them into place.

It included little feather birds that were a lovely detail but for some reason added a pretty penny to the cost of this lampshade charmer.Gather:- A wire lampshade frame stripped of all its fabric- Clear fishing line- Tape- Glue- Scissors- Any embellishments you want.The glass crystals, tied on with fishing line, catch the light like an ornate chandelier.

Finally, I glued on millinery flowers to the top of the shade and paper embellishments to the bottom, with small scraps of tulle tied on as well.

When your one-of-a-kind chandelier is complete, use fishing line or a pretty ribbon to hang it.

Upcycled Wire Lamp Shade

Upcycled Wire Lamp ShadeThis old lamp had seen better days yet it still worked; there was no reason to throw it away when all it needed was some upcycling!I updated it with some barbwire I cut from a fence on the property.Needed for this project:Lampshade frameSand paperBarbwire and wire to attached to frameWire cuttersSpray paintOptional:After removing the shade covering, I sanded the frame a bit to make sure no glue remained.Next, I attached the barbwire to the frame using pieces of wire.

After the barbwire was attached to the frame I sprayed the frame using a metallic gold paint.
