Farmhouse Window Trim

Using her suggestions, I turned our tiny bedroom window into an extra large, super charming, farmhouse-style window that kicks the pants off our previous window trim.I tried with all my might to get the existing window sill out, but it didn’t want to budge.

Farmhouse Window Trim
I measured the distance between the window sill and the top of the window (43″) and cut two 1 x 4 pieces to fit.

I wanted a nice, big ledge at the bottom of the window, but because I couldn’t remove the existing window sill, I had to improvise.

Soooo… what do you guys think of the new window trim??

We could either just add trim on top of the existing drywall returns, or rip them out and then add trim.Simple is what I wanted and simple it was…but it was just too simple, and a little flat.

Window Trim: Things to Keep in Mind

Trim boards refer to a general classification of interior material that is used to cover joints between different surfaces and materials within your home. Are there any tips to follow in matching your window trim to the rest of your interiors?A good example would be that baseboards (trim boards placed in the intersection where the wall and floor meet) and chair rails (trim boards installed with the specific function of protecting walls from abrasive impacts from chairs that may damage their surfaces) shouldn’t be thicker than door or window casings.

Window Trim: Things to Keep in Mind
A reputable window contractor already knows how these trim boards should conform with one another, but knowing these basic rules helps in further understanding the installation. The same goes for window casings and other related trims, so keep in mind which trim boards go where, how thick they should be and always factor in the dimensions of the room itself.

Masculine Modern Farmhouse Bathroom Design Concept & Progress

My masculine modern farmhouse bathroom remodel is inching closer to the finish line, so I thought this would be a good time to share the design concept and some progress photos. When I introduced the project, I mentioned how my clients didn’t want white trim or finishes in the bathroom.

Masculine Modern Farmhouse Bathroom Design Concept & Progress
Design ConceptMy overall design concept was to create a warm masculine space that referenced farmhouse style but in a more modern way.

For the floor tile, I specified a porcelain tile in shades of gray, taupe and cream that resembles concrete.

I decided to use pendant lights on the longer side and a more traditional vanity fixture on the shorter side where the wall space was too tight for another option.
