SIDNEY — The winners of the city of Sidney’s City Hall annual door decorating contest have been announced.One of the holiday traditions at Sidney’s City Hall is the annual door decorating contest, said a city of Sidney press release.

This year, nine departments participated in the Christmas Door Decorating Contest.They really went all out, said the release, decorating not only the door but the wall surrounding the door.

The door that finished second in the scoring was the door at the receptionist’s office at City Hall.

It is that time of year for Team Grissom to get in the holiday spirit.The Airman & Family Readiness Center, or AFRC, is hosting its second holiday door decorating contest with this year’s theme on Winter Holiday.

Foam Core Wins First Place in Decoration Contest

An interpreter at San Antonio College used Regal Plastic's Foam Board to create an elaborate Christmas door decoration."I did use Regal Plastic's product, the foam core sheet.I wanted to make it 3D by using the foam core.I only used the tape that Regal Plastics recommended to hold it on the door.The tape came off easy, several people in the office used the tape as well and were very pleased how easy it came off.

2019 Christmas Door Decorating Contest Winners Announced

Winners of the annual Christmas Door Decorating Contest were announced during the all-school Christmas Chapel on Friday, December 20.This year’s doors all have been decorated to reflect the name of a Christmas song.

Mr. Dickson’s 7th grade class received the “All In” Award for the most student participation.Mrs. McCarthy’s 2nd grade class received the “Be Transformed” Award for best representing the Christmas song they have chosen for their door.

Miss Williams’ 2nd grade class received the “Creative Genius Award” for the originality and creativeness of their door decoration.

One of the doors featured a giant snowflake made of plastic coat hangers.Blakely’s door featured an Ohio State football theme, with two wreaths helping to spell O-H-I-O, a plate of “wreath” cookies, and a fireplace surrounded by presents.

It is a morale booster.”The prize money is contributed each year by the city Manager, the assistant city manager, and the human resources manager.

The second annual BASIS Independent McLean Door Decorating Contest created holiday spirit and excitement for the coming Winter Break.Early in December, students created their own teams and claimed a teacher’s door.Together students brainstormed and brought to live a variety of winter and holiday themed doors.Some were themed to the teacher in the classroom, some to holiday classics, some traditional, and some to the subject taught in the room!

The Stanley County Student Council sponsored a door decorating contest prior to Christmas break.Student Council members, along with several of the Stanley County School Board members, chose the doors of Mrs. Roberts (elementary) and Mrs. Kampa (middle-high school) as the winners.
