These staircase decorating ideas arose purely by accident but we love the results!⇒ One of the joys of moving into a new house is finding those special little spots that will emerge as surprising areas to highlight. I found one such spot, serendipitously, and wound up creating a charming stairway nook. Who knew I would wind up with staircase decorating ideas that appeared well planned? I had done my floor plan on paper before we moved in, and with the exception of a few pieces, I pretty much knew where everything would go. I’m seeing this as an opportunity to fix some of the mistakes I had made in the past and these lovely French chairs are given a chance to be displayed as a focal point in this nook.
I’m also trying very hard to keep my spaces clean and simple, resisting the temptation to add an overload of my decorative pieces. It was actually a pleasure to finally find a spot that would do justice to this vase, a favorite piece of mine purchased in Positano on the Amalfi Coast. Much like the rest of this grouping, I knew immediately it was what belonged on the table like a crowning jewel.
The large window on the landing helps illuminate the details and the pale yellow walls lend an ideal backdrop to the warm finish on the chairs. It’s a favorite time of day for me and hints at an evening full of promise.
