Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Home Depot as part of their yearly Christmas Style Challenge. Our new house is a lot more interesting to decorate for the holidays than the rental, and this year I am excited to really gussy up the place for Christmas!
I have a vintage Santa blow mold from the flea market so naturally I had to get him a pair of reindeer to wait for him on the front lawn,. Not only were the reindeer super easy to set up but they also look incredibly realistic… As someone who jumps a little bit every time she sees them in the garage trust me- I know.
I still have a lot to learn about all the ways you can hang them, but Christmas lights are one of the prettiest parts of outdoor holiday decorations in my opinion. One day I’ll wrap our whole house but for now bringing in garland and these incredible hanging Moravian stars was a great place to start.
I tend to prefer a plain pre-lit garland over ones with berries or pine cones so that I can go back in with ornaments and ribbons if I want. This garland was pretty full and lush and because of the colorful presents going up and down the stairs I didn’t wanna add too much to distract from them.
They’re incredibly lightweight and the only thing to consider is how to plug them all in but hiding a power strip along the eaves of the porch seems to have done the trick.
I find that I often add to my Christmas decorations throughout the month as the holiday approaches and one of the DIY‘s that I have in the back of my mind for our stoop are some simple wooden presents that might go up and down the stairs. They’re super lightweight, all weather and will be a great complement to the wooden presents I will hopefully have time to make before Christmas! Secretly… I love figuring out our staircase, but these simple but impactful decorations this year might change my mind because the front of our house is looking SO festive!
