Our gray living room (which we just redid this past spring) was so incredibly easy to transition to fall. In fact – true confessions of a blogger here, y’all – with the launch of my photography course just last week I completely forgot about this upcoming tour… So in less than one hour (between putting the baby down for a nap and running out the door to run carpool), I spruced up this space for fall and photographed it for you all. But in addition to decorating for my kids, I’m honored to be joining my sweet friend Krista from The Happy Housie and so many other hard-working and talented bloggers for this fun Seasonal Simplicity tour.
Be sure to check out all the beautiful inspiration and fun fall decorating ideas at the end of the post, too!
Pillow covers Throw blankets Plaid Seasonal art Pumpkins Texture The darker colors just seemed appropriate for fall and – as un-glamorous as it may be – they match the high chair I’m using in the kitchen right now (hello, reality!
Swapping out pillow covers is about the easiest seasonal touch ever, and since they fold up nice as small, they don’t require much storage space (win!). I love using Turkish towels as lightweight throws for spring and summer, but swapping lightweight throws for beautiful knit blankets like this gray wool one I made adds a touch of cozy for the coming cooler weather. I found this one in the dollar spot at Target a few years ago, but any plaid blanket, throw, or scarf will work. But truly, with the number of gorgeous free printables available these days, you can have seasonable art at totally affordable prices. Even if you’re not a bright orange kind of gal or you don’t want to mess with live ones, a small pumpkin or two on a shelf or mantel can go a long way. I just added a couple little velvet ones to my shelves above the tv, replacing some greenery that felt more summery.
You know me and texture… 😉 I love texture year round, but fall offers more options: a fur stool, a woven plaid throw, a wool knit blanket, velvet pumpkins, and a woven basket all add cozy warmth to the space.
