🙋🏻 I’m excited to take you on a tour of our living area all done up in soothing and peaceful woods and whites! After taking down the happy clutter of Christmas, I was craving simplicity with my home decor, and I love the combination of wood tones and creamy whites.
The whites and creams echo the winter sky and the snowy ground, while the wood tones help warm things back up.
One way to add interest when decorating with white is to layer textures, and these embroidered and nubby linen pillows do the trick.
Throw in a chippy old side table, some baby corbels, vintage books and old church windows…aaaaaaaaand done. Well…I might need to cheat on the pillows, because this chunky, curvy, French farmhouse beaut steals my heart errrrrry time I walk in the room!
We didn’t want to do built-ins, but we needed something large enough to fill up the space while disguising all the electrical thing-a-ma-jigs, so we repurposed this old buffet table found at a local antique shop! I went heavy on the distressing, because I like to make sure to strike a balance between the two styles I’m mixing in here: French country and farmhouse.
The curvy, ornate buffet was pulling a bit too far towards the French-y side, so some serious farmhouse distressing brought it back towards the middle.
Chippy spindles, vintage hand cart turned coffee table, tufted French-inspired ottoman, nubby white pillows. This sofa is the IKEA Ektorp with the added chaise on the end, and it is pretty great for the price. The Ektorp is a bit firm at first, but it has softened over time, and we love the inexpensive slip covers that go with it!
